In-State Star Brauntae Johnson Sets Official Visit To Notre Dame

One of the top players in the state of Indiana has locked in an official visit to Notre Dame. 2024 Fort Wayne (Ind.) North Side athlete Brauntae Johnson, who the staff is pursuing as a safety, is slated to visit Notre Dame from June 4-6.

Johnson is a two-sport star for North Side, thriving on the basketball court on top of his work on the football field. As a wide receiver and defensive back, Johnson made a tremendous impact as a junior. He led the team with 1,081 yards and 16 touchdowns on 69 receptions. That was good enough for 15.7 yards per reception and 108.1 receiving yards per game.

On defense, Johnson collected 23 total tackles and several pass breakups. He did all that while also making an impact on special teams.

The 6-3, 170-pound athlete is considered a consensus four-star recruit across every major recruiting platform. Johnson ranks highest on the Rivals ranking, where he is currently pegged as the No. 56 overall player and No. 4 athlete in the 2024 recruiting class.

Johnson has been hearing from a long list of notable programs. Some of his premier offers include Notre Dame, Penn State, Tennessee, Washed, Colorado, Auburn, Michigan State, Iowa, Wisconsin, Cincinnati, Minnesota, Louisville, Missouri, Purdue, Iowa State, Illinois, Kansas and Indiana among others.

Notre Dame has been high on Johnson as an athlete for some time now. There was some question whether they could make the fit worth but that has become much more legitimate recently. The Irish promise to be a big player for Johnson up until the end.

This will be Johnson’s first visit back to South Bend on Notre Dame’s Junior Day on January 14th.

Notre Dame has a commitment from Arizona safety Kennedy Urlacher, but the staff needs at least two more talented safeties in the class.
