Cornerback Cree Thomas Recaps "Remarkable" Notre Dame Trip

Notre Dame fans owe a lot to the Phoenix (Az.) Brophy College Prep program that gave them cornerback Benjamin Morrison in the 2022 cycle. Fresh off an All American freshman campaign, the sky's the limit for Morrison as a member of the Irish team.

Notre Dame is looking to dip back into Brophy Prep in the 2025 class. The Fighting Irish recently offered Brophy Prep's latest star defensive back Cree Thomas, and he made a trip to Notre Dame over the weekend.

Notre Dame certainly made a strong impression.

"The Notre Dame visit was remarkable,” Thomas told Irish Breakdown. "The campus and the culture were even better than I originally thought it would be. As I was going through the visit I felt a strong family bond throughout the whole team which is very important to me.”

Thomas also had the chance to take in a practice, which was a great opportunity to see the team live and in person. The Arizona star was also able to see the coaches in action, tutoring their position groups and bringing the best out of them.

"The practice I watched was a live scrimmage, so the energy was immaculate,” Thomas said. “All the players were flying around and you could see the pride that every person on the field brought to every play.

"I had conversations with most of the coaches including Coach (Marcus) Freeman, (Mike) Mickens, and Coach (Chad) Bowden,” he continued. "The talks with all of them were amazing and you can tell they have a genuine concern for all of their players on and off the field.”

Thomas was also able to have his parents in attendance. The program was able to impress them as well, showcasing what they can provide all around.

"I was able to have my Mom and Dad come along with me on the visit,” Thomas said. "Both of them were super happy and absolutely loved what Notre Dame had to offer. They definitely want to be back to see more.”

A big element of the visit was the program’s pitch to Thomas. It wasn’t a simple approach. It was everything that the Irish program stands by.

“Notre Dame players are expected to live up to 'The Golden Standard' which is to, one, challenge everything, two, show unit strength and three, show a strong competitive spirit,” he explained. "These three points are things that I already do and I am confident I can build on them if I were to go to Notre Dame.”

The Arizona native has quickly attracted the attention of several prominent PAC 12 schools, including holding offers from Oregon, Arizona State, Arizona and Cal. Thomas also holds offers from the Fighting Irish and Purdue among others.

The 6-1, 170-pound cornerback is coming off of a outstanding sophomore campaign for Brophy College Prep. Thomas locked down one of the cornerback positions, finishing the season with 33 total tackles, one interception and six pass breakups. He also added in 1.5 tackles for loss and a half of a sack, while also being the team’s main kick and punt returner.
