Notre Dame Is A Dream School For 2024 Defender Teddy Rezac

The Notre Dame staff continues to scout the country for prospective talent, including some underrated recruits who could potentially fit the program. On Saturday, an offer was extended to 2024 Omaha (Neb.) Westside defender Teddy Rezac, who was offered as a linebacker by the program.

A versatile athlete, Rezac has been pursued as a linebacker, safety and even offensive player by various schools thus far. This offer from the Irish, however, was by far his biggest offer to date. It’s one that meant more than simply a great opportunity.

"There was just a lot of excitement,” Rezac told Irish Breakdown. "Notre Dame has been kind of a dream school for me, so when I heard I had a scholarship the feeling was surreal.”

Al Golden had actually been by Westside High School for the first time this past Tuesday. Just a few days later, the staff decided to pull the trigger. Things promise to move quickly, including a quick turnaround visit to South Bend for the Rezac family as they near closer to making a decision.

"I’m going up to Notre Dame this Sunday and Monday,” said Rezac. "My plan is to make a commitment before senior season, but otherwise I don’t have a specific set time. Whenever feels right is when I'll commit.

"Recruiting has been pretty good overall,” he continued. “It’s been cool to try and figure out what place would be the best fit for me. Boston College and South Dakota State probably talk to me the most, so they stand out.”

Whether things get serious between Notre Dame and Rezac, the Nebraska star does have clear criteria for what he is looking for from a program. It will be interesting to see whether the Irish program becomes that ideal landing spot for him.

"Building strong relationships, playing a high level of football, and the degree are most important to me,” he explained. "That’s what I’m focused on.”

Rezac has a modest recruiting profile as it currently stands. So far, he has earned offers from Notre Dame, Boston College, Colorado State, Coastal Carolina, Navy, Army, Air Force, North Dakota State, South Dakota State, Northern Iowa, Dartmouth and Fordham.

The 6-4, 190-pound athlete was a substantial difference maker on both sides of the ball for the 12-1 Westside squad. On defense, Rezac collected 62 total tackles, four tackles for loss, a sack, one forced fumble and two interceptions.

On offense, he hauled in 32 receptions for 414 yards and four touchdowns.
