Anthonie Knapp Commitment Preview
In this story:
Roswell (Ga.) High School offensive lineman Anthonie Knapp is ready to wind down his recruitment. The 6-4, 265-pounder will decide between Notre Dame, Penn State, NC State, North Carolina and Georgia Tech.
Knapp will make his decision at 5:30 PM ET, and Irish Breakdown will go live to discuss his decision. The Roswell star has seen his recruitment heat up in recent weeks, with Notre Dame jumping in with an offer last week.
Here is a look at Knapp's five finalists and where things stand.
NOTRE DAME - Knapp was the first 2024 offer made by recently hired offensive line coach Joe Rudolph. The Roswell standout has been a favorite of Rudolph for sometime, dating back to his tenure at Virginia Tech, when Knapp shined during workouts at a Virginia Tech camp. Notre Dame hosted Knapp last week and offered him during the visit. The Fighting Irish immediately shot into his top group and have a great deal of momentum heading into this decision. Notre Dame is the team to beat heading into Knapp's announcement.
PENN STATE - Less than a week before visiting Notre Dame, the Roswell blocker was in Pennsylvania visiting the Nittany Lion program. Penn State has upped its recruiting along the offensive line in recent seasons, and Phil Trautwein has made Knapp a priority target in the class.
GEORGIA TECH - The Yellow Jackets are the in-state program making the biggest push for Knapp. He visited Georgia Tech back in early January, shortly after former offensive line coach Brent Key was named the new head coach. Georgia Tech had early momentum, but they have faded in recent weeks.
NC STATE - Knapp began the month of March visiting three North Carolina schools. He made his way to Raleigh to see the Wolfpack program and also made stops in Chapel Hill (UNC) and Durham (Duke). According to inside Pack Sports, NC State offensive line coach Garett Tujague has built up a strong connection with Knapp and has made him a top priority.
NORTH CAROLINA - North Carolina also made a big splash during that early March visit. According to Inside Carolina, the Tar Heel coaches - led by line coach Randy Clements - impressed Knapp to the point he was talking about wanting to get back for yet another trip.
