This weekend was a massive one for the Notre Dame program, giving the fans a sneak peek into the 2023 version of the team during the Blue-Gold Game. It was also a massive recruiting weekend for the team, welcoming a flurry of talented recruits to campus, including El Campo (Texas) High School athlete Oliver Miles III.

Miles has a great argument as one of the most versatile players on the board for the Irish. That is one of the reasons why Notre Dame values him so highly.

"They said that I am a player with a lot of range,” Miles explained. "They think that I could play at safety but pretty much anywhere in the secondary. My versatility is a big sell.”

Overall, the coaches made Miles feel firmly at home. Those connections have really resonated big time with the Texas star.

"It was a really good visit,” Miles said. "Being able to sit down with the coaches was a tremendous experience. It was very informative on how they coach and teach techniques.

"I had the chance to sit down with both Coach (Al) Golden and (Chris) O’Leary,” he continued. “They are very cool and chill people. They had great advice on how to make myself a better player.”

Leaving the visit, Notre Dame has solidified themselves as a real player for Miles. He is very high on the Irish program.

"They are without question one of my top schools,” Miles said. "Notre Dame is standing out for sure.”

Miles makes his biggest impact as a running quarterback for El Campo, finishing second on the team in rushing with 743 yards and six touchdowns on 77 carries, including a 9.6 yard per carry average. That was just behind running back Reuben Owens, who was rated as a five-star in the 2023 recruiting class.

The Texas native also recorded three interceptions on the defensive side of the football. Just to round it out, Miles was also the team’s leading punter averaging 37.2 yards per boot.

It should be no surprise after watching Miles' film to find out that he is one of the top track and field triple jumpers in the country. Miles has a personal best jump of 48’ 0.5”. He also has a personal best long lump of 21’10.5”.

All eight of Miles’ offers have come since the end of January. The programs that have offered so far include the Irish, Utah, Texas Tech, Vanderbilt, Houston, Utah State, Tulane and Sam Houston State. Miles already has an official visit set up to Texas Tech this summer.
