Notre Dame has been making some tremendous progress on the 2025 recruiting class so far, garnering interest from some of the top recruits in the country. One of the more talented defenders on the board for Al Washington is Cheltenham (Pa.) High School defensive end Sharlandiin Strange, one of the better pass rushers in the Northeast.

There is little question that the Notre Dame staff has made an impact with Strange. That could include a trip up to South Bend soon, which would be a big time for this recruitment.

"Right now, I’d say Colorado, Rutgers, Notre Dame and South Carolina have been showing the most love so far,” Strange told Irish Breakdown. "My relationship with Notre Dame has been natural lately. I haven't talked to any coaches lately because of rules but I’m still planning to take a trip up there soon.

"They are always showing me love on twitter and in person,” he added. “It’s always genuine love when they come around. I know they want me on campus as soon as possible so I’m going to make it happen.”

With the dead period in full effect, Strange has the chance to sit back and really appreciate the process. It’s been a whirlwind but he has a priority to find the right fit.

"Recruiting has been going well recently,” said Strange. “I have been meeting new coaches along the way. I can't wait to call some place home.”

Strange is considered to be a four-star recruit by every major recruiting platform. He sits as a top 200 overall player by 247Sports (No. 164), On3 (No. 190) and Rivals (No. 193). On each ranking he ranks within the top 10 players in the state of Pennsylvania.

The 6-4, 230-pound pass rusher has been hearing from some prominent programs already. Some of Strange’s top offers to date include the Fighting Irish, USC, Penn State, Nebraska, Texas A&M, Colorado, South Carolina, Maryland, Illinois, Virginia Tech, Boston College, Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Syracuse and Rutgers among others.

In only eight games as a sophomore, Strange was an absolute force on the defensive line for Cheltenham. He totaled 74 tackles, 17 tackles for loss and two sacks. Strange also posted seven quarterback hurries, an interception, six pass breakups and a forced fumble.
