Notre Dame Commit CJ May Gets Action Kicked Off On Thursday

On Thursday, high school football action kicks off when Highland Home (Al.) High School (5-0) will welcome Brantley (3-2) to town. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM eastern time. Highland Home will be led by 2025 star pass rusher CJ May, who is one of the newest members of the Notre Dame class.

The 6-4, 225-pound defensive end announced his commitment to Notre Dame on Saturday following their matchup against Ohio State. May is currently rated as the No. 171 overall player and No. 18 edge in the 2025 class according to 247Sports, selecting the Irish over programs like Georgia, Clemson, Miami, Penn State and Tennessee among many others.

This will be Notre Dame’s first glimpse of May as an official member of the class. Highland Home is a tremendous program that is very much used to winning football games. Through five games in 2023, the Flying Squadron program has outscored opponents 205 to 52 points. They are fresh off of a 11-2 season in 2022.

They will be opposed by Brantley, who are a tremendous program in their own right. In the previous four seasons, they have gone 45-7 overall. Their worst season during that stretch was their 8-2 record in 2022. Brantley has played Highland Home twice during that span, in which Highland Home came out on the wrong end decisively by scores of 42-20 in 2021, and 48-12 during the 2020 season.

Highland Home is going to need a big performance from May, who is one of the more talented pass rushers in the 2025 class. Through five games, the junior has collected 16 total tackles, two tackles for loss and two sacks. He also contributes on offense as a tight end as well.
