A long list of 2025 Notre Dame commits are heading back to campus this weekend for Junior Day. In total, 12 of the 14 commits will be in attendance, including Highland Home (Ala.) High School defensive end CJ May.

May, who committed to Notre Dame back in September, is no stranger to South Bend. This will be his fourth overall trip and first since their blowout victory over USC this past season.

It seems like just yesterday that May committed to Notre Dame but we are sitting here over three months after the fact. It appears that May is very happy with his decision and is interested in experiencing another first in South Bend - the snow and bitter cold.

"I’m still happy with my decision,” May told Irish Breakdown. "I believe it was the right decision for me, my family and my future.

"I’m looking forward to seeing how cold this cold weather really is being a Southern kid,” he added. "It’s going to be different for sure.”

Over the last few months, May and the rest of the Irish staff and commits have been developing a strong bond. That’s another big part of the weekend, getting back to see his future coaches and teammates.

"We all talk a pretty good bit,” said May. "That includes chatting with the other commits and the coaches. I have a good relationship with (Marcus) Freeman, (Nick) Sebastian, (Al) Washington and Chad (Bowden) on the staff.”

May is also laser focused on helping to continue to build this stellar 2025 class for Notre Dame. He has become an important recruiter for the group.

"You definitely have to recruit because everyone else is,” he explained. "It’s very important and I do my part. This class is big on relationships and helping it grow.”

The 6-4, 225-pound pass rusher chose Notre Dame over a long list of impressive offers. Some of the premier programs who have offered include Georgia, Clemson, Miami, Penn State, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Auburn, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Mississippi State, Arkansas, South Carolina, West Virginia, Duke, Louisville, Georgia Tech and Vanderbilt among others.

May is considered a four-star recruit by 247Sports, On3, ESPN and On3 Industry rankings. 247Sports currently has him rated the highest, pegging the Alabama native as the No. 175 overall player and No. 20 edge defender in the 2025 recruiting class.

As a sophomore, May put together a quality season for Highland Home. He registered 50 total tackles, 10 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.l

In 12 games as a junior, May collected 54 total tackles, 10 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks. He also broke up six passes, forced two fumbles and had an interception that he returned for a touchdown, on top of his one receiving score on offense.
