Notre Dame Continuing To Grow Relationship With Running Back James Simon

In this story:
It’s hard not to be pumped up about how Notre Dame has recruited the running back position in recent years. With Aneyas Williams and Kedren Young committed in the 2024 class, the Irish staff now can turn the page completely to 2025.
Among the biggest names on the board is Shreveport (La.) Calvary Baptist star running back James Simon. While the Notre Dame coaches were on the road a few weeks ago, they stopped by Simon’s school twice.
It’s still very early, with Notre Dame having a lot of work to do to really interest Simon. For now, they are remaining authentic and consistent in their approach.
"So far, I have a strong relationship with Coach (Deland) McCullough and Notre Dame,” Simon said. "It’s continuing to grow as well. Notre Dame stands out due to their coaching staff and their standard. They have a great system and also offer a great education. I’m excited to get to know them more.”
There’s no question that Notre Dame is trying to move up the list. They are coming from the back, trying to battle some of the top programs in all of college football.
"Recruiting has been going great overall,” Simon stated. "This weekend, I’m going to LSU for camp, then I’ll be at Alabama for camp next weekend. That’s what I have planned so far.
"On top of LSU, Texas A&M and Oregon have both been very consistent and persistent while recruiting me,” he added. "I’m looking forward to developing deeper relationships with some other schools and coaches.”
Simon is rated as a four-star recruit by every major recruiting platform who has rated him. He is rated highest on the On3 ranking, pegging him as the No. 125 overall player and No. 11 running back in the 2025 recruiting class. Each ranking has Simon ranked as a top six player in the state of Louisiana.
The 6-0, 195-pound running back has been gaining interest from an assortment of premier programs. Some of his notable offers include the Fighting Irish, Georgia, USC, Texas, Florida, LSU, Tennessee, TCU, Oregon, Florida State, Auburn, Arkansas, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Oklahoma State, Colorado, Missouri and Arizona among others.
The Louisiana native was a big driving force for the 9-3 Calvary Baptist squad as a sophomore. Simon led the team with 1,005 rushing yards and 22 touchdowns on just 138 carries. That is good enough for 7.3 yards per carry on top of another 122 yards and three touchdowns on nine receptions.
