Elite Defensive Tackle Justin Scott Includes Notre Dame Among Top Five Schools

There isn’t any bigger remaining target in the 2024 recruiting class for Notre Dame than Chicago (Ill.) St. Ignatius defensive tackle Justin Scott. The talented defender is one of the elite defensive players in the entire defensive class, garnering five-star status from various recruiting platforms.

Scott released an updated top schools list on Wednesday, which the Irish were a part of. They were joined by Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State and Miami in the top group.

The 6’4 310 defensive lineman out of Chicago, IL is ranked as a Top 20 player in the 24’ class.

The Chicago native is considered as a five-star recruit by three separate recruiting platforms, including On3, 247Sports and Rivals. Both On3 and Rivals have him pegged as the No. 8 overall player in the 2024 recruiting class. Rivals has him as their top ranked defensive lineman in the cycle.

Aside from the five schools included on his most recent list, Scott also boasts several other notable offers. Some of the premier programs who have offered include Alabama, Oklahoma, Penn State, Nebraska, Auburn, Florida, USC, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Washington, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Arkansas, Iowa, Cincinnati, Minnesota, Missouri, Iowa State, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Colorado, Syracuse and Rutgers among others.

Defensive line recruiting has been an interesting thing to watch during the 2024 recruiting class. The staff has landed commitments from defensive ends Bryce Young and Cole Mullins, as well as getting into a great position with Texas star Loghan Thomas. Recently, the class did lose a commitment from defensive tackle Owen Wafle. Landing Scott just became even more vital to put together a strong 2024 class.
