June is going to be a massive month for Notre Dame, who is busy finalizing several important official visitors. One of the more important visits that have already been finalized is 2024 Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco linebacker Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa.

The California native is set to head back to South Bend on June 16-19. Viliamu-Asa also has visits set to USC and Ohio State in June, the three schools making up his finalists.

On Wednesday, media and college coaches flocked to St. John Bosco for their annual showcase. That included bath Al Golden and Al Washington, continuing to show just how much of a priority Viliamu-Asa is.

Following the event, Max Torres of Ducks Digest caught up with the talented defender to talk about his top three schools. It started with Notre Dame, who presents a very unique opportunity on the next level.

"It’s really about what they offer beyond football,” Viliamu-Asa explained. “The degree, the education, the relationships they have out there, really everything that deals with school and life beyond football. That is what is really appealing about them.

"They are going to do great things under Coach (Marcus) Freeman,” he continued. "You could see that last year. I love Coach Golden. I love Coach Washington and I love their defense.”

Seeing the coaches make the trip to St. John Bosco again was big for Viliamu-Asa. The Irish staff has continued to prioritized closing on the St. John Bosco star, especially Coach Golden.

"It meant a lot,” he said. "It meant a lot to see him. He actually came two weeks ago and flew back. It meant a lot to me for him to come back out here.”

USC, who will be getting the first of the three unofficial visits, is a school that Viliamu-Asa is very familiar with. They are right in his backyard and the Trojans would love to make him the face of their defense moving forward.

"Me and Coach (Brian) Odom have a good relationship, as well as the entire staff,” the talented linebacker said. "It has been nothing but love from them. I’m excited to get back on my official visit in June and continue to strengthen the relationship.

"One thing that Coach Odom touches on with me is to come in and be that guy,” Viliamu-Asa added. "They want me to be a big part of the defense and help to continue to build it up. They have talent, it is just about building it up.”

The school that will get the last shot at this recruitment is Ohio State. They are a school that have built a long standing relationship with Viliamu-Asa.

"It really is their longevity in my recruitment,” he explained. "They have been there since my freshman year recruiting me, been there the longest. Player development is big and their ability to get guys to the NFL. It is also an opportunity to blaze my own path, come out from the West as a Polynesian kid and do my thing, open eyes and be a role model.”

Viliamu-Asa has three intriguing options heading down the stretch of his recruitment. Notre Dame hopes to be the pick in the end, having the California standout as their clear top linebacker on the 2024 board.

Viliamu-Asa is considered a four-star recruit by every major recruiting platform. He ranks highest on the Rivals ranking, currently sitting as the No. 60 overall player and No. 3 linebacker in the 2024 recruiting class. 247Sports sees the California star similarly, pegging him as the No. 69 overall player and No. 6 linebacker in the class.

The 6-2, 225-pound defender is being courted by some of the top programs in all of college football. A few of the premier offers that Viliamu-Asa boasts are the Irish, Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan, Miami, USC, Texas, LSU, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Penn State, Oregon, Michigan State, Auburn, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Washington, UCLA, Washington State, Oregon State, Arizona State, Boston College, Stanford, Arizona and Kansas among many others.

The California native put together a dynamic junior campaign for the 13-1 St. John Bosco team. He finished the season with 111 total tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks despite missing one game. Viliamu-Asa also recorded an interception, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries and a pass breakup.
