Fast Rising Offensive Tackle Will Black Previews College Decision

In this story:
Notre Dame is hoping for some more good news on Thursday when standout 2025 Wallingford (Conn.) Choate Rosemary offensive tackle Will Black is set to make his college decision. The Irish are one of Black’s finalists, along with Alabama, Penn State and Michigan.
The 6-7, 285-pound offensive tackle is one of the biggest riders at the position in the 2025 recruiting class. Black spent a lot of time camping at various schools this offseason, including Notre Dame where he earned an offer from the staff with his performance. The offers have continued to roll in, including Alabama, Michigan, Miami, Penn State, Florida State, Florida, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Nebraska, Michigan State, Stanford, South Carolina, Kansas, Maryland, Boston College, Duke, Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh, Syracuse and Rutgers among others.
With the junior year that Black just put together, along with his impressive offer list, you can bet that the recruiting rankings will begin to match more appropriately very soon. So far he is ranked highest by On3, who has him pegged as a four-star, as well as the No. 202 overall player and No. 14 offensive tackle in the 2025 recruiting class.
Black most recently returned to South Bend this past weekend for the Echoes Banquet, which is the end of year event for the 2023 Notre Dame team. After visiting, he quickly set up his commitment date and is ready to make a difficult decision.
If Black chooses Notre Dame, he would be their first offensive line commitment in the 2025 class. The Irish are off to a very strong start overall, already boasting 10 commitments in the class. Here is what Black had to say about each one of his finalists.
Black on the Alabama Crimson Tide
Alabama would be a great fit because of the winning culture and consistently being a dominant team. They have been an elite team in college football for a long time.
Black on the Penn State Nittany Lions
Penn State would be a great fit because Coach (Phil) Trautwein has the tools to develop me. What he’s done with guys like Olu Fashanu is pretty incredible.
Black on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Notre Dame would be a great fit because of how they develop the offensive line position and their academics off the field. They really bring everything you would want in a program.
Black on the Michigan Wolverines
Michigan would be a great fit because of how they develop players on and off the field. They have done a great job at the offensive line position under Coach (Sherrone) Moore.
