Florida Safety Ivan Taylor Sees A Great Fit With Notre Dame

In this story:
There were a lot of talented players on campus at the Notre Dame “Grill and Chill”, and it was especially true at safety. One of the best players on campus, and one of three big time safeties, was Winter Garden (Fla.) West Orange safety Ivan Taylor, who made the return to campus after camping there this summer.
Taylor received his offer from Notre Dame after performing in front of the staff while camping. This most recent trip provided a deeper look into the program, which did not disappoint.
"I have been to Notre Dame once so my opinion of the program was good coming into the visit,” Taylor told Irish Breakdown. "Getting to come back just keeps making it better and better. It’s a wonderful place.”
The coaches have made a strong early impact on Taylor. This recruiting event provided quality time for Taylor and his family to get to know them all even better.
"My favorite part of the trip was just being able to talk to the coaches and getting to know them better,” said Taylor. "I had time to talk with Coach (Chris) O’Leary, Coach (Marcus) Freeman and Coach (Al) Golden among others. All the relationships are developing really well.
"The life conversations outside of football are really my favorite thing about the staff,” he added. "Some coaches just want to talk about football all the time and never really get to know them personally. That’s different at Notre Dame.”
Whether it is as a player or person, Notre Dame sees a young man in Taylor who can fit in well. Taylor is clearly a top priority recruit, and the Irish staff let Taylor know how well they see him fitting in.
"The staff sees me fitting in great,” he said. "They value me as a player and person a lot. I know I’d be able to come in and help to make the program better.”
Heading into the weekend, Taylor had listed Notre Dame as one of his top schools along with Tennessee, Florida and Louisville. While the Florida star isn’t planning on making a decision until after his junior season, it’s tough not to feel increasingly positive about how the Irish program is trending with Taylor.
Taylor is already a consensus four-star by every major recruiting platform. He is ranked as a top 30 nationally recruit by both 247Sports (No. 30) and ESPN (No. 28). Both platforms rate Taylor as the No. 3 safety in the 2025 recruiting class.
The 6-0, 170-pound safety is being courted by some of the top prospects in all of college football. Taylor currently holds offers from the Fighting Irish, Alabama, Michigan, USC, Penn State, Florida, Tennessee, Florida State, Ole Miss, South Carolina and Pittsburgh among several others.
In only nine games as a sophomore, Taylor made his full impact on the back end. He finished the season with 65 total tackles, five tackles for loss, half a sack, three interceptions and eight pass breakups.
