There were several 2025 offensive lineman who were offered by Notre Dame this off-season following notable workouts while camping in South Bend. One of those cases is Wautoma (Wis.) High School offensive tackle Michael Roeske, who presents some of the highest upside of any offensive lineman on the board for the Irish.

That initial visit to campus set the bar really high on Roeske’s recruitment. It is still a trip that has made a major impact on the Wisconsin native.

"Notre Dame is one of my favorite visits so far, just with all the history is amazing,” Roeske told Irish Breakdown. "I don't know of another school that has had more success than them with playing all the top schools in the country. They’re not afraid to play anyone. They will play the best schools there year after year and still have a great record. It just shows how much they care about football.”

That was been one of the highlights of the recruiting process so far, which has been a big learning experience for Roeske. It made such an impression that he has already set a return visit to campus this season.

"The recruiting process has been great,” Roeske said. "It's something new that I never thought would happen. I am just going with the flow and talking to as many coaches as I can. I'll be heading down to Notre Dame for their game against Ohio State on September 23rd.”

So far Notre Dame has made it very clear how high they value the talented offensive tackle. They are standing out early, although there isn’t necessarily a top school so far.

"Wisconsin and Notre Dame are two schools that are both pushing to get me,” he explained. "They are both schools that make me feel like home. I don't really have a top school as of now. I have about four to five schools that I like so I haven't really decided or had that feeling yet that I want to go to "that" school.”

A big reason why Notre Dame is standing out is relationships. It began on his visit to South Bend, and is continuing now that a deeper amount of communication is allowed.

"My relationship with Notre Dame has been good so far,” Roeske explained. "I met most of the coaching staff when I went down for my visit in the spring. They were all welcoming with open arms and really made it feel like a great atmosphere down there.

"My relationship has been great with all the coaching staff down there, especially my recruiter Caleb (Davis) and Coach (Joe) Rudolph,” he continued. "They both make Notre Dame feel like home for me.”

When it comes to a message, Notre Dame is a program that largely sells itself. The Irish staff has really been selling the developmental history of offensive lineman at the school and Coach Rudolph’s overall philosophy.

"They both explained the history of Notre Dame and how many great offensive lineman have come out of there,” he said. "They have been contacting me more lately with everything opening up for the 2025 class.

"Notre Dame’s message has been with how much athletic ability I have that I could play anywhere on the line,” Roeske added. “Coach Rudolph said that he's going to put the best five lineman he has on the field, it doesn't matter if they're all tackles, they'll make it work.

Roeske is rated as a four-star race hit on the On3 Industry ranking. They have him pegged as the No. 307 overall player and No. 23 offensive tackle in the 2025 recruiting class.

The 6-7, 280-pound offensive lineman has been securing the attention of several notable programs so far. Some of Roeske’s top offers so far include the Fighting Irish, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Syracuse, Kansas and Indiana.
