Notre Dame Is Among Three Standouts For WR Jason Robinson Jr.

In this story:
Notre Dame fans have had their eyes on 2024 Long Beach (Calif.) Poly wide receiver Jason Robinson Jr. for some time now, even while he was still committed to USC. When he decommitted back on February 14th, it was hard to not feel pretty good about Notre Dame’s chances to get in quickly.
This past weekend, Robinson was competing at the Under Armour Next event at Mission Viejo High School in California. During an interview at that event with Max Torres of Ducks Digest, the California standout had plenty to say about Notre Dame.
In fact, there were three different schools that headlined the conversation: Notre Dame, Colorado and California. It shouldn’t take attention away from the event, during which Robinson excelled.
"I think I handled my business,” Robinson said. "I came out here and ran some great routes. I learned some great things from some of the coaches out here that I wouldn’t learn anywhere else.”
The month of April promises to be a busy one for Robinson, who has several visits already planned. Those trips will go a long way to helping him define a timeline and making a decision. The three schools he led off with are definitely in the travel plans.
"Right now, I am just going around and taking my visits and seeing what everyone has to offer,” Robinson noted. "I have been getting closer to coaches and building connections to see where it goes from there.
"I have Cal, Notre Dame, Colorado and should be out to those schools in April,” he continued. "I have a lot of trips scheduled for April. That is where I am trying to get a lot of the trips in.”
On top of those three schools, Robinson is also planning trips to Syracuse, Penn State and Washington. We will see if those schools can have an impact. There is, however, no question that the Irish program has already done so.
"They just have so many opportunities over there, the Notre Dame alumni,” Robinson explained. "They just have so many avenues and do pretty much anything. Coach (Chansi) Stuckey is another really down to earth guy and he can really teach you something about playing the position over there. They have something good going on over there.
"I am going up there to meet with Coach (Gerad) Parker,” he added. "I want to be able to speak to all the coaches, see what they are all talking about, and be able to go see a practice. That is pretty much it.”
The Notre Dame staff has calmed any nerves over the change at offensive coordinator and really continue to sell the vision.
"I just got off of a zoom with the coaches,” he said. "I think they are in a good place. I feel like they are straight and it doesn’t really change anything that much.”
An interesting name in the conversation is Colorado, who is a school that seems to have created a nice amount of momentum in a short time. There is no question that the new coaching staff is a big reason for that.
"Before last year, I couldn't even lie to you, I wasn’t looking at them like that,” Robinson explained. "When Coach (Deion Sanders) got out there, they just flipped the whole script and they are in my top list now. I am going to go up there and see what they are talking about. I am going to see what the spring game is like.
It also appears that Colorado will be in it until the end.
"When it comes down there, they are going to be up there,” Robinson stated. "I haven’t made an official list or anything but they are for sure up there.”
The third school, California, is an interesting addition. Robinson sees a lot of the same elements that Notre Dame brings to the table, and obviously is much closer to home.
"It is kind of like Notre Dame,” he explained. "There are just so many opportunities that they bring by just going to school. Just saying you went to Cal connects you with so many people, so many different avenues. Coach (Burl) Toler is one of those coaches who just understands their players and gets the most out of them. They are really locked in.”
While April will be a big month to create some clarity, Robinson wanted to reiterate that he is still taking his time. He is waiting for that big moment of clarity to finalize a decision.
"I am not in a rush,” Robinson stated. "I am just seeing how everything plays out and taking these visits. Whenever I feel it, I feel it.
"I just want a school that is going to put the best players on the field because I know I am going to come in and take that spot,” he added. "I also just want a program that can take care of the players and my family to make sure I am set up after school.”
Robinson is considered a four-star recruit by 247Sports, ESPN and Rivals. 247Sports ranks him the highest among every major recruiting platform. The 5-10, 170-pound pass catcher is currently ranked as the No. 177 overall player and No. 33 wide receiver in the 2024 recruiting class.
The Poly standout is coming off a strong season as a sophomore in which he racked up 1,007 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns on 63 receptions for the 11-4 squad. He also finished second on the team with 16 yards per reception, showcasing his big play ability.
As a junior, Robinson has another strong season. Although he was limited to eight games, the California standout hauled in 46 receptions for 671 yards and five touchdowns
