Notre Dame Is Clearly Making 2024 Linebacker Chris Cole A Priority

In this story:
Even before this past weekend, Notre Dame was trending in a very good direction with 2024 Salem (Va.) High School linebacker Chris Cole since offering him back in late March. The Blue-Gold Game was a huge opportunity to get Cole back on campus since he was last there for a camp this past summer.
Seeing the game was a great experience, as was touring the campus, which Cole had obviously seen in the past. There was one clear takeaway from this particular visit, however; it was the coaches.
"The biggest highlight of the trip was having the opportunity to sit down one on one with Coach (Al) Golden,” Cole explained. "I was able to learn more about the Notre Dame defense and how I will fit In the program on the field and off of it.
"He said that I am one of the most talented players he has seen in a while and he would like the opportunity to teach and develop me as a skilled player that can play on the professional level,” Cole continued. "They are very high on what I can accomplish as a player.”
It didn’t just stop with Golden. This was a full staff effort to make Cole feel like a clear priority, which he has quickly become.
"I also spoke with Coach (Al) Washington who expressed his interest in having me join Notre Dame defense as well,” Cole added. "He said that I'm a player that can make an impact on the defense with my smarts and athleticism.”
The fit, however, goes well beyond just what Cole can accomplish on the field. There’s a full scope vision that is needed for a place like Notre Dame. That’s what has Cole most excited about the potential fit, which may also lead to him returning again in the near future.
"I would thrive in the program,” he said. "The Notre Dame culture of faith, excellence and brotherhood is why I see the program as a potential fit. I plan to return to Notre Dame soon, most likely for an official visit.”
If Notre Dame does get an official visit, it’s a big deal for the program. Cole is an ideal rover prospect in the 2024 class, who could eventually make the move inside as a WILL linebacker. The Virginia native would be a huge bump for linebacker recruiting which still has a lot of questions to answer this cycle.
Cole currently holds an impressive offer list. Some of the notable programs that have extended offers so far include the Fighting Irish, Georgia, Florida, Penn State, Tennessee, Miami, Texas A&M, Nebraska, Auburn, Maryland, Virginia Tech, Virginia, Duke, Vanderbilt and West Virginia among others.
