JaDon Blair Is A "Perfect Fit" For Notre Dame

In this story:
Safety recruiting struggles have been a hot topic for Notre Dame in the 2024 class. So far, they seem to have had much greater reviews from the 2025 class, already receiving several visits from a few standouts this off-season.
One safety that the team is working on getting to campus is 2025 Winston Salem (N.C.) Mount Tabor athlete JaDon Blair, who is arguably the toolsiest safety on the board for the Irish. So far, the recruiting process has been moving along and teams are starting to separate themselves. It’s the efforts from certain coaching staffs that have been standing out.
“Recruiting has been going pretty good with offers coming in,” Blair told Irish Breakdown. “I’m starting to really build great relationships with some of the schools that have been in contact most. I love when a coach wants to build a relationship with me, it shows how much interest they have.”
Although communication is limited, Notre Dame has already begun to put in work. There is definitely intrigue without question. Early reviews are positive.
“My relationship with Notre Dame has been going pretty good so far,” he explained. “Since I’m a 2025 recruit, it can be a little slow since they can’t contact me too much. I have gotten the chance to speak with Coach (Chris) O’Leary and the staff a little. He especially seems really cool and like a good coach but I haven’t met them yet. I want to and have plans to try to get up to campus soon.
“Coach O’Leary sees me as a perfect fit into their system,” Blair continued. “He thinks I can do well in a lot of different areas and really use my versatility to make a difference.”
The last time Notre Dame had a 6-4 safety, he ended up being pretty good. The Irish staff has been selling the Kyle Hamilton comparisons to Blair. His ability to affect the game in multiple ways is a major selling point.
“The staff sees me as an ideal fit both on and off the field,” Blair stated. “They believe that I could thrive in all areas. With my combination of size and athleticism, I could play a variety of roles on the field.”
Getting Blair on campus is a major priority. Turning intrigue into interest is a must.
Blair has received a flurry of interest from several notable programs thus far. Some of the top programs who have extended offers so far include the Fighting Irish, Penn State, Miami, Florida State, Maryland, Virginia Tech, Louisville, Duke, West Virginia, Wake Forest and Georgia Tech among several others.
On3 is especially high on the North Carolina star. Blair is rated as the No. 26 overall player and No. 2 safety in the 2025 recruiting class. That ranking also has Blair pegged as the No. 3 player in the state of North Carolina, an area that Notre Dame has made an impact in recently.
The 6-4, 180-pound athlete was a substantial producer from his safety position. He finished his sophomore campaign with 44 total tackles, two tackles for loss, an interception and two pass breakups.
Blair was also used on the offensive side of the football, although that was rare. He completed seven of twelve passing attempts for 70 yards and two touchdowns. On the ground, he also carried the ball for 28 yards on four carries.
