On January 6th, the All-American Bowl is scheduled to kick off at 1 PM eastern time at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. This game will include a long list of some of the top overall recruits in the 2024 recruiting class. That includes five members of the Notre Dame class, including running back Kedren Young, wide receiver Cam Williams, offensive tackle Guerby Lambert, defensive end Bryce Young and linebacker Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa.

Viliamu-Asa, who is arguably the top linebacker in the country, is also up for a tremendous offer during the event. On January 5th, they will be holding the 2024 All-American Bowl Awards Show. The California star has been nominated as one of the five finalists for the Defensive Player of the Year Award, which 2023 Irish linebacker signee Drayk Bowen won at last year’s event. Other past winners include Jaelan Phillips, Micah Parsons, and Bryan Bresee.

The other finalists who are up for the award are Clemson linebacker commit Sammy Brown, Florida defensive line commit LJ McCray, and Oregon defensive lineman Xadavien Sims.

It was an outstanding senior season for Viliamu-Asa, who was the leader of arguably the most talented group of defenders in all of high school football. The 6-3, 230-pound linebacker finished the campaign with a team leading 114 total tackles, 13 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks in 13 games. Viliamu-Asa also had an interception, three pass breakups, one fumble recovery, and four total touchdowns.

That concluded an incredible two-year span for Viliamu-Asa, who missed his sophomore season while recovering from a knee injury. During those two years, he collected 225 total tackles, 21.5 tackles for loss, and seven sacks. The All-American Bowl will conclude Viliamu-Ada’s high school career, who will be enrolling early with the Irish in January.
