Notre Dame Offer "Great News" For 2025 Tight End AJ Ia

In this story:
The Notre Dame staff continues their travels on the recruiting trail, and as they get out to more schools you're seeing more offers. One of the latest is 2025 Orange (Calif.) Lutheran tight end Aaron "AJ" Ia.
All Glory and Praise to the Most High! I am extremely blessed and thankful to have received an offer from the University of Notre Dame! #GoIrish☘️@OLuFootball @OLuPerformance @Coach_Frank82 @ChrisWardOL @CoachTonio24_ pic.twitter.com/7E3hDYRBLc

The California standout has been receiving a ton of interest thus far despite just finishing up his sophomore season. Hearing from a school like Notre Dame is a major step for Ia.
“It was great news to hear for sure,” Ia said. “It was especially great after hearing that they’re considered “Tight End U” and it’s a great opportunity to be at a great school!
“Recruiting has been really good for me so far,” he continued. “I so far have 11 offers and I can only praise God for getting me to this point. So far the only school that has been really reaching out is Tennessee and Utah and I really like both of them because of how they run their offenses and all.”
When asked about the biggest criteria for Ia when selecting a school, he kept it simple. It’s all about opportunity.
“It’s not really anything specific,” Ia said. “It's just any school that’s willing to give me a chance and where I am able to get playing time.”
La has already been attracting the attention of several standout programs. Some of his notable offers to date include Notre Dame, Tennessee, Nebraska, Washington, Arizona State and Cal among others.
The 6-5, 215-pound tight end is considered a four-star recruit by On3. They currently have him ranked as the No. 82 overall player and No. 3 tight end in the 2025 recruiting class. La is also considered the No. 11 player from the state of California.
As a sophomore, La was a valuable member of the Orange Lutheran passing attack. The talented pass catcher ended the season with 24 receptions for 362 yards and five touchdowns. That was good enough for a 15.1 yard per reception average and a long of 53.
