Notre Dame Offer Was "Very Special" For Quarterback Troy Huhn
Over the last couple of months, Notre Dame has been active on the recruiting trail evaluating a ton of talented 2026 quarterbacks. That includes getting out to see San Marcos (Calif.) Mission Hills quarterback Troy Huhn a few weeks ago, who was offered by the Irish staff on Wednesday night.
A lot of top schools have also been touching in, and pushing for Huhn. Despite all the attention, the recent Notre Dame offer was a special one for Huhn. Their reputation and legacy as a program really stand out.
"The moment I heard Coach (Gino) Guidugli say you have been offered was very special,” Huhn told Irish Breakdown. "Notre Dame is a great historic school and they are definitely going to be on my list.
"I knew Notre Dame has historically always had great football,” Huhn continued. "Last year they had a great team, and I expect another great year coming up. Coach (Marcus) Freeman is a very young head coach, but he knows how to get it done.”
Notre Dame is also one of the early schools that are standing out. It appears that they will have a good chance here if Huhn is a player they focused on, and push for:
"Recruiting so far has been great,” Huhn explained. “I have had the opportunity to talk with some of the top schools. I am very fortunate and blessed to be recognized from every school that has been in my path. Some schools that Stand out the most would be Texas, Penn State, LSU, Notre Dame.
"I would love to play ball anywhere at the next level,” he added. "I would say I need to fall in love with the school. There’s nothing else really. I know God will put me in the right situation at the right place.”
The 6-3, 195-pound passer is not currently ranked by any of the major recruiting platforms. Despite that, his offer list continues to fill out. Some of the top offers so far for Huhn include the Irish, Texas, LSU, Penn State, Oregon, Nebraska, Texas A&M, UCLA, Michigan State, Virginia Tech, Arizona, Arizona State, Cal, UCF and Indiana among several others.
As a sophomore, Huhn put together a good season for the Grizzlies. In 10 games, he threw for 1,623 yards and 16 touchdowns. Huhn also added three more rushing scores on the ground.
