Notre Dame Offers 2024 Texas Running Back Kedren Young
The 2024 running back board became even more talented on Tuesday for Notre Dame, extending an offer to Lufkin (Texas) High School star runner Kedren Young. Notre Dame made a huge impact in Texas during the 2023 class and will look to impact the Lone Star State again this cycle.
Young is considered a four-star recruit by both On3 and 247Sports. He is rated as the No. 240 overall player and the No. 21 running back in the 2024 recruiting class according to the On3 Consensus ranking.
The Texas native is garnering interest from several big time programs. Some of his notable offers include the Fighting Irish, Arizona State, Boston College, Vanderbilt, Purdue, Arizona, and Georgia Tech among others. Schools like Oklahoma State and Texas Tech have also shown interest in Young recently. He was also in attendance at the Texas A&M Junior Day this past weekend.
The 5-11, 210-pound runner was a tough task for opposing defenses as a junior. Young rushed for 1,751 yards and 19 touchdowns on 237 carries, an average of seven yards per carry. He also hauled in another nine receptions for 96 yards on the season.
The Irish staff already received a tremendous early commitment from Hannibal (Mo.) High School all-purpose back Aneyas Williams, who is one of the better weapons in the 2024 running back class overall. There is some interest in bringing another running back into the fold to pair with Williams.
Young brings a downhill style that is reminiscent of current Notre Dame star Audric Estime. He could be an intriguing implement to what Williams brings to the table.
