Notre Dame Offers 2025 Linebacker Riley Pettijohn

Notre Dame coaches have been making their travels over the last few days, visiting the schools of several top 2024 and 2025 recruits. During those travels, the Irish staff extended an offer to 2025 McKinney (Texas) High School linebacker Riley Pettijohn.

Pettijohn is a heralded defender who is considered a top 75 recruit nationally by both 247Sports and On3. He peaks as the No. 54 overall player and No. 6 linebacker in the 2025 recruiting class by 247Sports. They also see Pettijohn as the No. 6 player in the state of Texas.

The 6-3, 200-pound athlete already boasts an impressive offer list. Some of the notable programs who have offered so far include the Fighting Irish, USC, Michigan, Texas, Texas A&M, Tennessee, TCU, Missouri, Auburn, Nebraska, Baylor, Syracuse, Texas Tech, Kansas and Duke among others.

As a sophomore, Pettijohn made his impact felt. He collected 42 total tackles, five tackles for loss, three sacks and five quarterback hurries.

Linebacker recruiting has been an area of strength for the Irish over the last couple recruiting cycles. They have had some inconsistencies in 2024 but are pushing for a third straight elite class. They also already have their eyes set toward 2025, with Pettijohn looking like one of the premier talents at the position.
