Notre Dame Offers Texas Defender Tai'Yon King

Notre Dame extends an offer to 2026 star linebacker Tai'Yon King

Notre Dame was super busy on Sunday, offering over 100 of the top players in the 2026 recruiting class as a part of their Pot of Gold offer event. It was a short list of true off-ball linebackers, which included Port Arthur (Texas) Memorial star defender Tai’Yon King.

The aptly nicknamed “Tank” plays much bigger than his 6-0, 195-pound listing. His size makes him a bit of an outlier, and a tweener between the MIKE and WILL linebacker position. Obviously he’s a sophomore and will only get bigger moving forward.

King has been putting together quite the offer list so far. Some of the premier programs who have extended offers to date include the Fighting Irish, Florida, Penn State, Texas A&M, Nebraska, Washington, Missouri, Arizona, Texas Tech, UCF, Houston, Baylor and SMU among others.

Ever since Marcus Freeman took over as head coach, the state of Texas became a much bigger priority for the Irish program. That includes six players total in the 2023 and 2024 classes, seven if you include defensive end Loghan Thomas who played his senior year in Ohio.

King is one of 15 recruits from the Lone Star State offered during the event. He could be a part of the movement to continue that momentum into the future.
