Notre Dame OT Target Will Black Sets Commitment Date

Notre Dame received some potentially positive news in terms of offensive line recruiting on Monday when standout 2025 Wallingford (Conn.) Choate Rosemary Hall offensive tackle Will Black announced that he will be publicly committing on Thursday, December 21st. The Irish are among the finalists for Black, along with Alabama, Michigan, and Penn State.

The 6-7, 285-pound offensive lineman originally camped in South Bend this offseason, subsequently earning an offer from the Irish for his efforts. Since then, Black has kept a close relationship with the Notre Dame staff and has spoken glowingly about Joe Rudolph and the job he is doing with the Irish.

Black was back on the Notre Dame campus this weekend for the Echoes Banquet. The timing of that visit could be a very positive sign for Notre Dame’s chances to come out on top on Thursday.

Since last offseason, Black has seen a dramatic rise on the recruiting side. He is now considered a four-star recruit by both On3 and the On3 Industry ranking. Black ranks highest on the On3 ranking, where he currently sits as the No. 202 overall player and the No. 14 offensive tackle in the 2025 recruiting class.

He has been garnering the attention of some of the top programs in all of college football. Some of the premier offers Black has received include Notre Dame, Alabama, Michigan, Penn State, Miami, Florida, Florida State, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Nebraska, Virginia Tech, South Carolina, Maryland, Pitt, Boston College, Duke, Michigan State, Syracuse, Stanford, Kansas and Rutgers among others.

Notre Dame has received a lot of great early reviews from offensive line recruits in the 2025 class so far, but have yet to receive their first commitment. It will be interesting to see if Black is the first to come off the board on Thursday.
