Pot Of Gold Recap: Notre Dame Offers Several Talented 2025 Running Backs

In this story:
The Notre Dame running back room has become an embarrassment of riches on the current rosters. Deland McCullough has done a tremendous job of developing talent, something that Lance Taylor was doing a nice job of before him. After some questionable recruitment of the position for several years, things have been tremendous recently.
With the staff signing top 100 caliber running back Jeremiyah Love in the 2023 recruiting cycle, as well as landing an early commitment from 2024 Hannibal (Mo.) High School all-purpose back Aneyas Williams, the last step is to find a partner in crime for Williams to finish out the 2024 class. That leaves the opportunity for the Irish staff to spend a lot of attention on the 2025 recruiting class at the position, which includes six talented runners who were offered on Friday during the Pot of Gold event.
Let’s take a look at some of the top players on the board early.
A FEW NAMES TO KNOW
Heading into the event, the Irish staff had already offered a few running backs in the 2025 recruiting class. That included three runners who were “re-offered” to join in on the fun on Friday. That trio of tailbacks is incredibly talented, hailing from regions that the Irish staff must prioritize moving forward.
That list includes Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei star Jordon Davison, who is considered by several major recruiting platforms to be the top running back in the 2025 class. The California native is garnering interest from some of the top programs in the country, and is also from a school that the Irish staff has had little success in the past.
It should be no surprise that Humble (Texas) Atascocita star Tory Blaylock has asserted himself as one of the top runners in the class. He is the son of former Kansas City Chiefs and New York Jets running back Derrick Blaylock.
The third member of that group is Lynchburg (Va.) Liberty Christian Academy standout Gideon Davidson. The DMV area is a part of the country that Notre Dame needs to get in more consistently. Davidson was just added to the board a few weeks ago but looks like a player that Notre Dame is already very high on.
Notre Dame extended offers to four different running backs on Friday that were new members to the board. Among them, Leesburg (Ga.) Lees County running back Ousmane Kromah might offer the best all-around blend of size, physicality and athleticism on the board.
The biggest play threat is Pike Road (Al.) High School all-purpose back Anthony Rogers, who is aptly named “Turbo” for his ability to create big plays. His game is reminiscent of current Irish running back Chris Tyree but offers even more physicality and contact balance as a runner.
The final two running backs added to the board were Shreveport (Louis.) Calvary Baptist Academy standout James Simon and Baltimore (Md.) St. Frances Academy star Carlton Smith. Both players brings appealing blends of power and explosiveness. They round out an impressive running back board.
