On the offensive side of the football, Notre Dame is putting together a tremendous 2024 recruiting class thus far. They have a lot of highly rated players, and for the most part, have generally been pegged in reasonable spots.

There are, however, still some players who are vastly underrated from a national perspective. Let’s take a look at a few of the key commits and targets on the board who could be in line for huge jumps during their senior seasons.

CURRENT COMMITS

WR Micah Gilbert - Charlotte (N.C.) Christian

Gilbert is considered a four-star recruit by every major recruiting platform. He peaks as the No. 199 overall player and No. 30 wide receiver in the 2024 recruiting class according to 247Sports. The North Carolina native sits as the No. 223 overall player and No. 38 wide receiver in the 2024 class on the On3 Comparison ranking.

The 6-2, 205-pound pass catcher garnered interest from a host of impressive programs. Aside from Gilbert’s top seven schools, some of his impressive offers include Penn State, Tennessee, Virginia, Louisville, Missouri, Wake Forest, West Virginia and Georgia Tech among others.

Over the last two years, Gilbert has hauled in 79 receptions for 1,020 receiving yards and nine touchdowns. Despite only playing in seven games as a junior, Gilbert still managed to pull in 39 receptions for 486 yards and six touchdowns.

WR Isiah Canion - Warner Robins (Ga.) HS

There aren’t many more versatile players than Canion, who plays everything from quarterback, wide receiver, cornerback and punter for his Warner Robins squad. That is a testament to Canion’s athleticism but has also caused him to become a bit underdeveloped as a pure wide receiver.

Just off of upside and athleticism alone, Canion should be ranked a lot higher than he is currently. Both 247Sports and Rivals have him rated as a three-star recruit. That is much too low for a 6-3 plus wide receiver with verified 4.51 speed.

If Canion has the chance to play the majority of his time at wide receiver in 2023, he has a chance to really make a massive rise from a technical perspective. That should allow him to be considered one of the top pass catchers in the 2024 recruiting class.

KEY REMAINING TARGETS

RB Kedren Young - Lufkin (Texas) HS

Young is finally considered a consensus four-star recruit by every major recruiting platform. He is rated as the No. 81 overall player and the No. 8 running back in the 2024 recruiting class according to the On3 recruiting ranking.

For the longest time, the Texas native was pegged as a three-star recruit by several recruiting rankings. Even with his rise, it still isn’t good enough and doesn’t adequately mirror his talent. With a big senior season, he should be considered one of the elite runners in the 2024 class, something that he should already be recognized as.

The 5-11, 210-pound runner was a tough task for opposing defenses as a junior. Young rushed for 1,751 yards and 19 touchdowns on 237 carries, an average of seven yards per carry. He also hauled in another nine receptions for 96 yards on the season.

RB Xavier Robinson - Midwest City (Okla.) Carl Albert

More and more programs continue to check in on Robinson, seeing his offer list expand quickly. Some of the premier programs who have offered the Oklahoma star so far include the Fighting Irish, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Colorado, Iowa State, Kansas State, Georgia Tech, Kansas and Vanderbilt. Robinson has already set up and official visit to Notre Dame in June.

The 6-2, 225-pound runner has been a dynamic presence for the Carl Albert Titans. During his junior season, Robinson rushed for 2,594 yards and 39 touchdowns for the 12-2 squad. He did so on just 276 carries, averaging an absurd 9.4 yards per carry.

That production, along with Robinson’s combination of size, power and change of direction, is enough to be considered a consensus four-star recruit. Currently, no platform has him considered at that level. ESPN doesn’t even have Robinson currently rated.

OT Styles Prescod - Fishers (Ind.) Hamilton Southeastern

Prescod is considered a four-star recruit and the No. 188 overall player in the 2024 recruiting class according to the On3 ranking. He has secured scholarship offers from Notre Dame, Alabama, Michigan, Penn State, Tennessee, Colorado, Wisconsin, Louisville, Iowa, Purdue, West Virginia and Cincinnati among many others.

Even with that offer list and 6-6 and 270-pound frame, Prescod is still considered a three-star prospect by every other major recruiting platform. His combination of length, athleticism and upside should at worst be considered amongst four-star status.

The Indiana native has had a massive off-season, including continued growth into his frame. Expect a huge senior year and for his recruiting ranking to match his offer list and talent before signing day.
