Priority Pass Rusher Damien Shanklin Finalizes Official Visit To Notre Dame

In-state star defensive end Damien Shanklin sets official visit to Notre Dame

Notre Dame has their eyes set on a dynamic 2025 defensive line haul, already holding commitments from Chicago star Christopher Burgess, Joseph Reiff, Florida defensive tackle Davion Dixon and hybrid defender Dominik Hulak. The biggest target left on the board is Indianapolis (Ind.) Warren Central defensive end Damien Shanklin, who the staff has been pushing very hard for over the last several months.

Shanklin, who has already visited campus three separate times, has solidified an official visit to Notre Dame. The talented pass rusher will be heading back to South Bend from June 7-9, which is going to be a huge official visit weekend for the Irish staff.

As of now, Shanklin also has official visits planned to Michigan, Texas, Tennessee and he is also finalizing another to Oregon. The dates of those trips have not yet been disclosed.

The plan is for Shanklin to make his commitment after those official visits, which means we are heading toward the home stretch of this recruitment. An in-state standout, Shanklin has been very complimentary of Notre Dame in the past. They are a school that has made him an absolute priority from the beginning.

"They are really good coaches over there,” Shanklin told Irish Breakdown. "They stay in constant contact with me. They just tell me how much they see me with the program, and how much I can make an impact on the field.”

After a solid sophomore year, Shanklin really took a massive step forward as a junior. On the season, he recorded 66 total tackles, 17 tackles for loss, five sacks and an interception.

It isn’t shocking that a ton of schools have taken notice. Some of the top offers so far for the Indiana star include the Fighting Irish, Michigan, Texas, USC, Texas A&M, Oregon, Tennessee, Michigan State, Louisville, Iowa, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Purdue, Cincinnati, Minnesota, Missouri, Duke, Kansas, Rutgers and Indiana among others.

The 6-4, 230-pound pass rusher is now considered as a four-star recruit by every major recruiting platform. Shanklin is also a near top 200 overall prospect by every platform, rating highest by On3 that currently peg him as the No. 137 overall player and No. 10 EDGE in the 2025 recruiting class. They also have him rated as the No. 2 player in the state of Indiana, as does ESPN and Rivals.
