Running Back Daniel Anderson Recaps Notre Dame Commitment

In this story:
Notre Dame received a big recruiting bump this weekend before their game against Ohio State when 2025 Bryant (Ark.) High School star running back Daniel Anderson announced his commitment to the Irish. Anderson joins Justin Thurman as running back commits in the class, forming a very appealing duo in the backfield.
This announcement was expected even before Anderson made the return trip back to South Bend. It was more a question of when, not if. It was a decision that was well thought out and was made after seeing a lot of different schools over the last few months.
"After talking to my mom, family, and the coaches, it helped me realize Notre Dame is the perfect fit for me for academics, athletics, and beyond,” Anderson told Irish Breakdown. "The timing just felt right. I'm honored that I'll have the opportunity to learn from Coach (Deland) McCullough and Coach (Marcus) Freeman.
"Notre Dame stands firm on what they offer beyond football,” he continued. "They treat you like family and you are family for life.”
Although the decision was made before the visit, the most recent trip really solidified things. Anderson is already a part of the Irish family, which extends beyond the years he will wear blue and gold.
"The visit in general was nothing short of excellence,” he explained. "From the staff to the crowd, everyone made my family and I feel right at home.”
With Notre Dame now having six commits in the 2025 recruiting class, the group can balloon quickly. The group looks like it could be a special one. Anderson sees some big potential from their class.
"I think this class is going to work well together,”
Anderson said. “It seems like our skill sets will complement each other well. It really helped that our personalities clicked this weekend too.”
The offensive class in 2025 is off to an especially strong start. They have a chance to put together back-to-back outstanding classes on that side of the ball. That includes a loaded running back group, which Anderson will fit right into.
Anderson is coming off of a highly productive sophomore season, sitting as a huge reason why Bryant was able to capture their fifth straight state championship. He finished with 856 yards rushing and 11 touchdowns on just 74 carries, including an impressive 11.6 yards per carry average.
The talented runner was also a weapon in the passing game. Anderson exploded for 246 yards and three touchdowns on just nine receptions. That was good enough for a 27.3 yards per reception average.
In three games as a junior so far, Anderson has rushed for 136 yards and one touchdown. He has also hauled in two receptions for 14 yards through the air.
The 5-11, 190-pound athlete has been gaining substantial interest on the recruiting trail recently. Anderson has been extended offers from the Fighting Irish, Tennessee, Colorado and Mississippi State among others.
From a recruiting ranking perspective, Anderson is considered a four-star recruit according to Rivals. The Arkansas native is currently pegged as the No. 171 overall player and No. 15 running back in the 2025 recruiting class.
