The last name Bettis holds a lot of weight around Notre Dame. 2025 Atlanta (Ga.) Woodward Academy wide receiver Jerome Bettis Jr. is the son of Hall of Fame running back Jerome Bettis, which makes him fully aware of that weight.

Bettis has not allowed his obvious relationship to Notre Dame to cloud his judgment, and he has gone through his recruitment with a level head. There could be an easy assumption made that the Irish program is the team to beat and most programs won’t stand a chance. While there might be some truth to that, Bettis is grateful for how the staff has been recruiting him thus far.

"I’ve said it before but the main thing I love about Notre Dame is their emphasis on recruiting me,” said Bettis Jr. "They recognize that I still have other schools pursuing me and that they still need to recruit me the same way they would anyone else. Them letting me know that they want me for me is something that really stood out to me.”

Bettis has been using the last few weeks to settle into his recruitment and dive into the schools on the board. His visit schedule is pretty bare currently, but does have one already planned.

"I’m really just taking my time with it and enjoying the process," Bettis Jr. stated. "I plan on getting back up to Notre Dame for their Junior Day in July, but outside of that I don’t have any planned visits left so I’m focused on getting ready for the season.

"Notre Dame has probably done the best job out of the school’s recruiting me right now,” he continued. "They have been super consistent.”

A big reason for that is his relationships with the staff. It isn’t about his father’s experiences and legacy. It’s about creating his own.

"My relationship with them has been great,” he stated. "I’m going back up there so I can see the staff and other recruits in person so I can focus on building my connection with them.”

Bettis currently holds offers from the Irish, Arkansas and Boston college among others. The 6-2, 175-pounder was active taking game day visits this past fall. He has been to Georgia Tech and Florida during that season, as well as having visited the Horseshoe for the Ohio State versus Notre Dame game.
