Standout 2024 Defender Cameron Pruitt "Truly Blessed" To Receive Notre Dame Offer

For people who obsess over recruiting rankings, the recent Notre Dame offer to 2024 Theodore (Ala.) High School defender Cameron Pruitt may have been a let down. For the people who value incredible talented football players who are being courted by some of the top programs in college football, it’s tough not to get super excited.

The Alabama star is one of the more interesting players in the 2024 recruiting class, playing everything from linebacker, overhang and safety for Theodore. That versatility is a potential big sell to the Notre Dame staff, who values the ability to affect the game in multiple ways defensively.

When Pruitt received the offer from the Irish, it was an extremely special moment.

“My initial thoughts when I received the offer from Notre Dame was that I’m truly blessed to get the offer because most people don’t have what I got and I am truly blessed to receive the offer,” Pruitt explained. “The staff sees me as a rover in their system but could also play linebacker. They seem very excited about me.

“My recruitment has been very good so far,” he continued. “I’m just blessed and without the man above, I wouldn’t have any of this.”

It promises to be a busy few months for Pruitt, who doesn’t have a defined timeline to make a decision but also doesn’t want it to drag on unnecessarily. South Bend looks like it will be a stop on his travels this spring or summer.

“I haven’t been to Notre Dame before,” said Pruitt. “It’s a place that we are planning on visiting very soon. I’m just waiting on my parents to help figure out when it is a good time to get up there.”

While there are no real early favorites for Pruitt, he has a defined criteria for the college search. He knows what he needs in order to be successful on the next level, as a person and football player.

“What I’m looking for in a school is good coaching, good teammates, a great education, a great community and the push to work hard everyday at practice and in the classroom,” he explained. “Those are the type of people I need and want to be around.”

Pruitt has a very impressive offer list so far. Some of his notable offers include the Irish, Alabama, Texas A&M, Penn State, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Michigan State, Colorado, Maryland, Pittsburgh, Purdue, Vanderbilt and Indiana among others.

The people ranking recruits haven’t quite caught on to the caliber of player that Pruitt is. Judging by the offer list, that should change in the very near future.

The 6-3, 190-pound defender is coming off of an incredible junior campaign. In 12 games, he finished second on the 13-1 Theodore squad with 99 total tackles. He also posted 15 tackles for loss, two sacks, three quarterback hurries, three forced fumbles and an interception.
