Talented Florida Defensive Lineman Jarquez Carter Recaps Recent Notre Dame Offer

There have been two traits that have been emphasized on the defensive line by Notre Dame since Marcus Freeman took over: length and explosiveness. On Tuesday that trend continued when the Irish staff extended an offer to 2025 Newberry (Fla.) High School defensive lineman Jarquez Carter.

An underrated fixture from a recruiting ranking perspective currently, Carter has the profile to develop into a substantial recruit moving forward. For now, this offer from Notre Dame is a massive one.

“I was really excited about the offer and I was just thanking God,” Carter said. “I understand how blessed I am to be in the position I am.

“I feel like Notre Dame is a great school academically and sports wise,” he added. “They bring a great reputation to the table.”

Things are just beginning to heat up for the Florida native. He is ready to dive head first into the progress and see what each school has to offer. Carter does fully understand what he is looking for during this recruiting journey.

“Recruiting has been going really good recently,” explained Carter. “I’m hearing from a lot of great schools and meeting some cool coaches. I’m grateful for every bit of interest.

“The things that I’m looking for are good relationships with coaches,” Carter continued. “I want to be developed the best that I possibly can. Reaching my goals means a lot to me.”

Carter has begun gaining substantial interest from various colleges recently. Over the last couple of days, he has been offered by both the Fighting Irish and Penn State. Along with his first UCF offer, that list promises to expand in the very near future.

The 6-3, 275-pound defensive lineman was an absolute monster as a sophomore. He finished third on the Newberry squad with 78 total tackles, including 23 tackles for loss and 10 sacks. Carter also recorded eight quarterback hurries, three forced fumbles, two pass breakups and a blocked kick.
