Versatile Defender Simeon Caldwell "Very High" On Notre Dame

Star 2026 Florida defender Simeon Caldwell recaps recent Notre Dame offer

Since Marcus Freeman came to Notre Dame, getting longer and more athletic on the second level defensively has been a major priority. They hope to continue that momentum in the 2026 recruiting class with Jacksonville (Fla.) The Bolles School defender Simeon Caldwell, who was offered on Sunday during the Pot of Gold.

Caldwell plays a lot of safety for the Bolles School but the Irish staff loves his combination of size, length and athleticism. Notre Dame has made a great early impression on him.

"My thoughts so far about Notre Dame are very high right now,” Caldwell told Irish Breakdown. "Talking to some of the coaches, they are very nice and genuine. On top of that the school is one of the top schools in the country for both football and academics so I was very excited about the offer.

"I would say I’ve built a really good relationship with Notre Dame as of now,” Caldwell continued. "I’ve been talking with a lot of the coaches and hopefully it continues to get better.”

Being a part of the Pot of Gold event was special for the Florida star. He understands how fortunate he is, and how unique the event is in general.

"The Pot of Gold day is an amazing tradition Notre Dame has,” he said. "With the school having some ties to St. Patrick’s Day, it’s a great way to just take over the internet for a whole day and I’m glad I’m a part of that takeover.”

As one of the more talented defenders in the 2026 class, Caldwell is being pursued by a lot of the top programs in college football. The travel schedule is going to be busy over the next couple of months. Although it hasn’t been solidified yet, there is a good chance that Caldwell could be checking out South Bend this offseason.

"The recruiting process has been fun so far, not too stressful yet because I’m still young,” Caldwell said. "I have five visits scheduled this spring to Tennessee, Ohio State, Texas, FSU, and Miami. I’m also working on scheduling a trip to Notre Dame around mid-late April.”

Caldwell is putting together an elite offer list. Some of the top programs who have extended offers so far include the Fighting Irish, Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan, Texas, Miami, Florida State, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Louisville, Kentucky, Missouri, Maryland, Ole Miss, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Pittsburgh, Indiana and UCF among others.

As a sophomore, Caldwell was stellar for the Bulldogs. In 14 games, the 6-3, 185-pound athlete collected 137 total tackles, 11 tackles for loss and two interceptions. Caldwell also had one sack, five quarterback hurries and two blocked punts.
