We have already seen a previous Joe Rudolph relationship lead to a commitment for the 2024 recruiting class with the addition of offensive lineman Anthonie Knapp. On Thursday and Friday, Notre Dame hosted 2024 Flanders (N.J.) Mount Olive offensive tackle Aidan Lynch, another player who had a previous relationship with Rudolph.

Lynch was previously offered by Rudolph while at Virginia Tech. Although Lynch left the visit without an offer, he remains a player to keep a close eye on moving forward.

The Mount Olive blocker gave Irish Breakdown some insight into that recent trip. It was one that stuck with Lynch, who has had an affinity for the Notre Dame program for some time.

"The visit went really well,” Lynch explained. "I got the chance to see and meet many great players and staff so it was overall a great time. I also got to see the stadium, where I saw the Irish play in every home game. Being a Notre Dame fan since I was a little kid, it meant a lot.”

Lynch made the trip with his mother, who also has a fandom with the Irish program. In a lot of ways, this visit may have been just as impactful with her.

"She really enjoyed it,” Lynch said. "My family being Notre Dame fans, it was a dream come true for not only myself but also her to be in South Bend.”

With Lynch’s previous relationship with Rudolph, it shouldn’t be a surprise that he has had a nice impact on him. The New Jersey native has a high opinion on the offensive line coach and his expertise, along with the other coaches.

"He is a down to Earth guy,” said Lynch. "He doesn’t hide the truth from his players and from me. He is overall a really good coach and guy in general.

"I’m hoping to get back up to campus on another visit soon,” he added. “I will definitely get a chance to see the staff again with them coming out to see me in New Jersey soon.”

Lynch is hopeful for a scholarship offer to be extended to him from the Irish sometime in the near future. For now, he is excited to continue to build that relationship and see where things go. The staff did leave him with an overall message to remember as he continues forward with his recruitment.

"They told me this whole process is one big interview,” Lynch explained. "They said to not hide who I am because that can cause a disconnect between myself and them. They also encouraged questions which my mom and I found very helpful.”

A towering presence at 6-7 and 280 pounds, Lynch has garnered the attention of several big time schools so far. Despite not being ranked by any of the major recruiting platforms, Lynch currently holds offers from Georgia, Penn State, Stanford, Boston College, Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh and West Virginia among others.
