Notre Dame received a massive commitment (quite literally), when elite 2024 West Roxbury (Mass.) Catholic Memorial offensive tackle Guerby Lambert opted for the Irish over Ohio State, Boston College and Harvard. The Irish had been running in front for Lambert for some time, landing one of the premier talents in the class.

On paper, it’s pretty easy to love Lambert. Then you turn on his film, and it’s even easier. According to Catholic Memorial head coach John DiBiaso, it was pretty evident that Lambert would be special early on.

"Guerby is one of those rare players that you know early on would be special,” DiBiaso said. "He also had that frame. He was always long and athletic. It was always about just adding good weight and developing technically. He’s done a great job.”

While he has always had those physical gifts, including a wing span over seven feet, it’s been his work ethic that has been the difference maker. Lambert is one of those players who doesn’t carry himself like he’s a special talent. He works harder than anyone.

"His work ethic has always been tremendous,” he said. "You never have to be on top of him to make sure he’s doing the right things. Guerby comes from a great family that has instilled that incredible work ethic and wants to be great.”

Like most Notre Dame players, Lambert is also a well rounded young man who is a high quality student. He is the perfect fit with the Irish.

"He takes care of everything without being told twice,” said DiBiaso. "He’s a great kid and excellent student. He cares about the work he puts in everyday.”

From every vantage point, Lambert is a tremendous fit with the Irish. As a football player, talent, student and person, its seamless. Notre Dame got a good one.

"Guerby will be as good as he’s allowed to be,” he explained. "The best thing about him is he’s nowhere near his ceiling. I’m excited to see what type of player he turns into.

"I personally think he will thrive over there,” DiBiaso continued. "He’s the type of kid that could make any situation work. Having support like Notre Dame provides will help him reach his potential. When he does, I feel sorry for all of his opponents.”

Lambert is a consensus four-star recruit by every major recruiting platform. The Massachusetts standout ranks highest by On3, who has him pegged as the No. 28 overall player and No. 4 offensive tackle in the class.

The 6-7, 290-pound offensive tackle chose the Irish over a long list of impressive offers. Some of his top offers include the Fighting Irish, Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State, LSU, Michigan, Miami, Penn State, Auburn, Tennessee, Florida, Florida State, Michigan State, Maryland, Wisconsin, South Carolina, Kentucky, Stanford, Boston College, Pittsburgh and Duke among others.
