Former Ohio State Buckeyes tight end Rashod Berry and offensive tackle Nicholas Petit-Frere were suspended for violating the NFL's gambling policy, the league announced Thursday.

Berry, who played defensive end for the Indianapolis Colts before he was waived Thursday, was suspended indefinitely through the 2023 NFL season for betting on league games and will have to reapply for reinstatement after the conclusion of next year, according to a release. Petit-Frere received a six-game suspension in the 2023 season due to betting on non-NFL games at a team facility, the release stated.

"The integrity of the game is of the utmost importance," Colts general manager Chris Ballard said in a statement following Berry's release. "As an organization we will continue to educate our players, coaches, and staff on the policies in place and the significant consequences that may occur with violations."

Petit-Frere apologized to Titans fans, coaches and teammates in a statement to ESPN.

"I have always strived in every stage of my life to follow the rules," Petit-Frere said in a statement. "I did not knowingly break the rules. Even after attending a league presentation, I was unaware about the specifics around placing bets from a team facility. I will do everything in my power to help the team during training camp and will be prepared when I return to the roster during the season."

The Titans said in a statement they know Petit-Frere "has deep respect for the integrity of the game and our organization."

Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams, who played with the Buckeyes during the 2019-20 seasons, was also suspended for six games for also betting on non-NFL games from a team facility.

Berry played at Ohio State from 2015-19, catching 17 passes for 198 yards and four touchdowns in his five-year career. He made a position switch to defensive end during the 2016 season, recording seven tackles on the year.

Berry was signed as an undrafted free agent by the New England Patriots where he bounced around between the practice squad and active roster. The same went for his stint with the Lions and Jacksonville Jaguars before the Indianapolis Colts signed him off their practice squad Jan. 4.

Petit-Frere started at offensive tackle for the 2020-21 seasons, earning First-Team All-America honors after the latter. He was drafted by Tennessee with the No. 69 overall pick in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
