Buckeyes Land Jeremiah McClellan, Third Top-20 WR Commit In 2024 Cycle

The Ohio State Buckeyes snagged a commitment from four-star wide receiver Jeremiah McClellan.

For the fourth time in five full recruiting cycles, Ohio State Buckeyes offensive coordinator Brian Hartline has landed at least three top-20 receivers.

Class of 2024 four-star wide receiver Jeremiah McClellan announced his commitment to Ohio State Sunday, joining five-stars Jeremiah Smith and Mylan Graham as the Buckeyes' pass-catching pledges in the cycle. McClellan chose the Buckeyes over the Oregon Ducks and Missouri Tigers.

McClellan was offered by the Buckeyes Sept. 12, 2022, and was part of one of the Buckeyes' big official visit weekends June 9 — the second of his two official visits in his recruitment.

The No. 108 player nationally and the No. 4 player in Missouri participated in the Overtime 7-on-7 tournament and was named the eighth-best overall performer and earned day one MVP honors after five touchdown receptions, according to On3.

"The St. Louis Christian Brothers product has a powerful, thick build that looks ideal for a padded setting," On3's Charles Power wrote. "He showed outstanding ball skills and strong hands on Day 1, coming down with several contested catches, including a ridiculous one-handed touchdown grab. McClellan looks like an ideal fit as a power slot at the next level, but his ball skills and movement ability give him potential a moveable chess piece."

The 6-0, 190-pound pass-catcher was given a player comparison to Cleveland Browns wide receiver David Bell.

"Has a solidly built, stronger frame. Stocky and is a tough receiver for defensive backs to re-route," 247Sports' Allen Trieu wrote. "Has excellent ball skills. Hand-eye coordination and ability to make contested catches is one of his standout qualities. Shows burst as a route runner can accelerate and get on top of defenders. If he can add just a little bit more top end, he can become even more of a downfield threat. But is a very skilled receiver who will enter a high-major program physically ready to compete."
