Buckeyes Assitant Corey Dennis Hired By Utah

The Ohio State Buckeyes will be losing assistant Corey Dennis to the Utah Utes

Following the hiring of new offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien, it was unclear what the status of Ohio State Buckeyes quarterbacks coach Corey Dennis would be going forward.

Per the team, he was set to transition into a 'yet to be determined' role with the offense.

However, that no longer seems to be the case.

According to reports from Cleveland.com’s Nathan Baird, Dennis has been hired by the Utah Utes as an offensive analyst. Dennis had been with the Buckeyes since 2015 when he began his career in coaching as an intern.

In 2020, Dennis was promoted to be the Buckeyes QB coach where he spent four seasons in the role. During that time, helped develop C.J. Stroud into one of the best quarterbacks in college football.

Last season was not a kind one to Ohio State quarterbacks. Junior starter Kyle McCord threw for 24 touchdowns and almost 3,200 yards, but his six interceptions seemed to always come at the worst times for his team.

McCord announced his transfer to the Syracuse Orange a few weeks after the conclusion of the regular season, setting the stage for sophomore backup Devin Brown.

Brown would go on to start the Cotton Bowl, where he was injured early in the contest and replaced by Lincoln Kienholz.

Now, the Buckeyes have a new set of quarterbacks, with Will Howard expected to take over as the starter, and incoming freshmen Julian Sayin and Air Nolan providing promise for the future.

That future, however, will no longer contain Dennis.
