Ryan Day, C.J. Stroud Endorse Ohio State Buckeyes WR Marvin Harrison Jr. in 2023 Heisman Trophy Race

The Ohio State Buckeyes head coach and former quarterback share the same stance on who should win the 2023 Heisman Trophy: Marvin Harrison Jr.

Ryan Day and C.J. Stroud both shared their support this week for Ohio State Buckeyes receiver Marvin Harrison Jr., who has built a case to win the 2023 Heisman Trophy over the past few games.

Harrison is the first Buckeyes receiver in the history of the program to have back-to-back seasons with over 1,000 passing yards (1,263 in 2022 and 1,063 over the current year).

Day took time during his weekly press conference to reiterate his stance on what the Heisman Trophy means for the player to whom it is given every year. After defining his criteria, Day said Harrison fits his standard to a T.

"I think I've said it before that the Heisman Trophy goes to the most outstanding player in the country," Day said. "I know there's a lot of great players out there. I get to see (Harrison) every day. I think he's the most outstanding player in the country. He came in right from the jump with a work ethic that really has transcended throughout the whole team...He makes everybody on that field better."

Stroud echoed support for Harrison on Monday while appearing on the "Let's Go!" podcast, hosted by Tom Brady. During a discussion about Ohio State's upcoming game against Michigan, Stroud put his prediction on the record.

"Marvin is the best player in the Heisman (race)," Stroud said. "I'm calling it now: if he does not win the Heisman, it's rigged."

Marvin Harrison Jr. and the No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes play their final home game of the regular season this Saturday, November 18 against the Minnesota Golden Gophers.

Kick-off between the Buckeyes and Golden Gophers is scheduled for 4 p.m., with coverage airing nationally on the Big Ten Network.
