Former Ohio State G Duane Washington Jr. Signed by New York Knicks

Former Ohio State Buckeyes guard Duane Washington Jr. has found a new NBA home with the New York Knicks.

Former Ohio State Buckeyes guard Duane Washington Jr. was signed by the New York Knicks Tuesday, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Washington averaged 7.9 points in 31 games with the Phoenix Suns but was waived by them on Feb. 1.

Being on a two-way contract, Washington will receive 50 percent of the league minimum and be eligible to play in the Knicks' final 19 regular-season games. He will be ineligible to play in the postseason.

The Grand Rapids, MI. native averaged 16.4 points in his junior season at Ohio State, contributing almost half of his 1,073 career points in his final year with the program.

Washington went on an insane stretch in the 2021 Big Ten Tournament, scoring 92 points across four games which was capped off with a 32-point performance against the Illinois Fighting Illini, the most in a championship game in Big Ten Tournament history. His performance earned him All-Big Ten Tournament honors to go along with his Third Team All-Big Ten selection for the 2020-21 season.

He went undrafted in the 2021 NBA Draft before being signed by the Indiana Pacers on Aug. 5, 2021.

Washington averaged 9.9 points in 20.2 minutes per game for the Pacers before being waived in July 2022.

He signed with the Suns on his second of his now three two-way contracts on Aug. 3, 2022.

Washington joins other Knicks point guards Jalen Brunson and Immanuel Quickley who average 23.6 and 12.9 points per game, respectively, as well as league veteran and three-time All-Star Derrick Rose.
