'What's Changed?': Michigan TE Stands Up for Buckeyes' C.J. Stroud

In this story:

In the span of a few weeks, Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback C.J. Stroud has gone from the projected No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft to have his stock in question after leaked S2 Cognitive scores and a controversy surrounding his decision not to attend last summer's Manning Passing Academy camp as a counselor.

It has been tumultuous, to say the least, as Day 1 of the NFL Draft looms ever closer. The talk that some have labeled as "slander" ahead of one of the best days of Stroud's football career even has Jake Butt, an ex-Michigan Wolverine, standing up for the Buckeyes' signal-caller.

"I just can't believe some of the disrespect that C.J. Stroud has gotten these past couple of weeks," Butt said on the Big Ten Network on Monday. "All of sudden Will Levis, the quarterback from Kentucky is the favorite to go No. 2," Butt continued.

"I just want to ask what has changed these past two months? What games have been played."

It is the question that all of the Buckeye-faithful are asking as new frontrunners are seeing their stock rise due to the questions against Stroud. Despite having an impressive college career in Columbus, finishing twice as a Heisman finalist, and even having his team on the brink of making a national championship game this past season, some are still second-guessing Stroud.

NFL evaluators haven't seen Stroud put on the pads since he last donned the scarlet and gray in the College Football Playoff Semifinal loss to Georgia, which saw the Ohio State quarterback top off his career with a strong performance. Stroud completed 67 percent of his throws for 348 yards and four touchdowns while adding another 34 yards with his legs.

Where Stroud's draft stock remains is unclear, but if betting odds are anything to look into, Levis has seen his odds of becoming the No. 1 overall pick shift overnight.
