New Ride, New Me: Ohio State QB Kyle McCord Joins Chevrolet Family with NIL Deal

Ahead of a potential starting season for Buckeyes quarterback Kyle McCord, the junior has officially partnered with Mark Wahlberg Chevrolet as a part of a new NIL deal.

Ohio State quarterback Kyle McCord may not be the starter for the Buckeyes next season, but he will be riding around campus in a new car.

McCord is the newest collegiate athlete to sign with Mark Wahlberg Chevrolet, as the rising junior announced on Instagram Tuesday morning.

The 24-hour photo, which was shared from McCord's personal account, shows a 2023 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT 53 and a short message from the quarterback thanking Chevrolet for the NIL partnership.

"Appreciate the team," the text read. "Thanks for the ride!"

McCord's new deal puts his NIL valuation up to $134,000 — enough to be among the top 500 athletes in the country — and stands as the biggest deal he's signed to date.

“It’s super neat,” Wahlberg Chevrolet GM Brian Gilmore said of working with McCord and Ohio State athletes. “We’ve actually gotten really close with their families over the years. It’s really been a great experience for all of us."

Not only will McCord get to see his new car, but Gilmore also spoke to the level of involvement that his and other signees' parents have in the process of beginning a partnership.

"We’ve been very selective — we talk to the families before we enter any partnership. The parents are very involved. By doing it that way, we haven’t had any problems. They like how we handle it.”

McCord is now the second Buckeye to sign with Gilmore and Chevrolet, as Ohio State receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. did so earlier this year. Since then, Harrison's social media presence has shot up, as the junior currently boasts 203 thousand Instagram followers ahead of his third season with the Buckeyes.

Though McCord is now a part of the Chevrolet family, his online presence isn't quite at the same level at Harrison's — though he's hoping it can be if he lands the starting job. Until then, he and his family can enjoy a few rides in one of the country's nicest cars.
