In this story:

Terry Bussey, a 5-star athlete from Timpson, TX, committed to Texas A&M on Thursday afternoon.

The talented playmaker from East Texas chose the Aggies over Oklahoma, Texas, Alabama and LSU. Bussey is rated one of the top 15 players and the No. 1 ATH in the country, according to 247Sports.

In 2022, Bussey won the prestigious Mr. Texas Football award, given annually to the top high school football player in the Lone Star State. The 5-star recruit racked up 4,773 yards of offense, 72 touchdowns, 115 tackles and five interceptions in what was an outstanding junior campaign.

While OU didn't come out on top for the impressive athlete, Brent Venables and company stayed firmly in the mix for the 5-foot-10, 180-pound prospect throughout the final months of his recruitment.

Over the summer, Bussey took an official visit to Norman for one of Oklahoma's big recruiting events, seemingly enjoying his time on campus.

More recently, Bussey took visits to Alabama and LSU. In the end, however, Jimbo Fisher and Texas A&M were able to earn a pledge from the elite athlete.

While Bussey would obviously be a huge addition on the recruiting trail for the Sooners, Emmett Jones and company already have a whopping five wide receiver commits in the 2024 class.

With Zion Kearney, Ivan Carreon, KJ Daniels, Zion Ragins and Dozie Ezukanma already pledged to Oklahoma, juggling six different wideouts in one recruiting class would be difficult for OU.

Nonetheless, the Sooners still did everything they could to earn a commitment from Bussey, but were unable to beat out the Aggies.
