On Wednesday morning, the Big 12 and the NFL announced a partnership together — the Big 12 Pro Day.

The conference-specific Pro Day will feature “state of the art medical and player skill assessments designed to maximize the student-athlete prospect experience,” the league announced in a press release.

The Big 12’s Pro Day will kickoff in the Spring of 2024 at the Ford Center in Frisco, TX. The event itself is designed to offer positive exposure for the conference’s athletes in front of the NFL’s decision makers. It appears to be the first event of its kind, with a Power 5 conference partnering alongside the NFL.

“The first-of-its-kind Big 12 Pro Day will provide our student-athletes an opportunity to showcase their talent and skill as they turn their NFL dreams into reality,” said Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark. “Through this partnership with the NFL, Big 12 student-athletes will receive national media exposure across NFL Network and NFL Media platforms.

“We are thrilled to partner with the NFL to host this Pro Day, and we look forward to creating a special experience for our student-athletes.”

The event will prioritize production and exposure. NFL Network will bring its camera crew to Frisco to provide thoughts and commentary on the event. Both the Big 12 and NFL plan to broadcast the pro day heavily on social media channels.

The Big 12 Pro Day on-field portion will be closed to the public, but the fan experience around the area should still be lively. The conference will be hosting a Big 12 Fan Fest outside of the event including special VIP appearances, fan engagement experiences, big screens showing off NFL Network's coverage of the Pro Day and potentially even more.

It was announced on Feb. 9 that the Oklahoma-Texas departure to the SEC was expedited to after the 2023-24 season, so the Big 12 blue bloods might miss out on the conference's newest attraction.
