Highly Touted Oklahoma Target Commits to LSU

In this story:
Caden Durham, a 4-star running back in the 2024 recruiting class, announced on Thursday that he is committing to LSU
After a long recruiting battle that seemingly went back and forth between the Tigers and the Sooners, Durham announced his decision on the 247Sports YouTube channel alongside his high school teammate, Colin Simmons.
Durham is one of the top 70 players and top seven running backs in the nation, according to Rivals. Listed at 5-foot-9 and 195 pounds, the Duncanville (TX) star has blazing speed, reportedly clocking a wind-aided 10.25 in the 100-meter dash.
Originally from Moore, OK, Durham's mother ran track at OU. With two talented tailbacks already pledged to the Sooners in the 2024 class, however, it is easy to see why Durham chose the Tigers.
The 4-star running back was originally set to announce his commitment on Aug. 25, but changed the scheduled date after returning home from a visit to Baton Rouge.
At one point, Oklahoma appeared to be in the lead for the Panthers' standout.
After Taylor Tatum, the nation's No. 1 running back, and talented local halfback Xavier Robinson committed to DeMarco Murray and company, however, OU's running back room in the upcoming recruiting class seemingly was too congested for Durham to add himself to the mix.
Still, Murray and company never gave up in the race for Durham, reportedly trying until the final moments to earn a pledge from the former Southmoore (OK) running back.
With Durham now committed to LSU, the Sooners will likely focus their energy on Heritage Hall (OK) athlete Andy Bass. Bass is set to make his decision on Aug. 24, and will choose between Oklahoma, Syracuse and Kansas State.
A quarterback at Heritage Hall, Bass is being recruited by Murray and company as a utility player who will primarily train with running backs, but has the versatility to play a variety of roles.
