In this story:

Alexander Shieldnight, a 3-star edge rusher from Wagoner, OK, released his commitment date on Friday.

The Oklahoma target will announce his decision on Nov. 10, at Wagoner's football stadium ahead of the Bulldogs game against Broken Bow (OK).

Shieldnight is one of the top 10 players in Oklahoma and one of the top 21 edge rushers in the 2025 class, according to Rivals.

Listed at 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds, Shieldnight holds offers from Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Arkansas, Tennessee and others. Recently, a handful of recruiting sites have placed predictions that the in-state edge rusher will commit to OU.

Shieldnight would be a big addition to the Sooners' 2025 recruiting class, which currently has one other defensive line commit in Lee's Summit North (MO) product Ka'Mori Moore.

Earning a pledge from another one of the top players in the state would continue Brent Venables' impressive run of local recruiting. In the 2024 and 2025 classes alone, Venables has earned commitments from 12 recruits (scholarship and walk-ons) who currently play OK Preps football.

Earlier this season, Shieldnight broke Wagoner High School's career sacks record, an impressive feat for a player who still has his entire senior year ahead of him. Shieldnight is the latest in an impressive line of defenders to hail from Wagoner, as Detroit Lions linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez also played for the Bulldogs before attending Oklahoma State.
