Oklahoma 2024 RB Target Sets Commitment Date

In this story:
Xavier Robinson, a 3-star running back from Oklahoma City, is set to announce his commitment on June 27, he announced on Wednesday.
A star halfback at Carl Albert High School in Midwest City, Robinson is a big target for the Sooners, who would surely hate to lose out on another stellar in-state prospect. At 6-foot-2 and 220 pounds, the Titans star already looks prepared to play at the next level despite just finishing his junior year of high school.
Last season, Robinson ran for 2,594 yards and 39 touchdowns, averaging a whopping 9.4 yards per carry. After helping Carl Albert to the state title a year ago, the Titans look poised to return in 2023 after welcoming in 2025 QB Kevin Sperry, who transferred from Rock Hill (TX) earlier this week.
According to Rivals, Robinson is one of the top-five players in Oklahoma, holding 15 offers from schools around the country. Currently, the Sooners’ are battling the likes of Colorado, Notre Dame, Iowa State and Oklahoma State in efforts to land the physical specimen.
Robinson was in Norman last week visiting Oklahoma’s campus and was seen with the OU coaching staff taking in the Brent Venables Elite Camp. Prior to his official visit with the Sooners, Robinson took official visits to Notre Dame and Iowa State.
This weekend, Robinson said that he will be visiting the Cowboys in Stillwater, giving Mike Gundy and company the last chance to make a run at him. Despite the timeliness of his visit to Oklahoma State, multiple recruiting media outlets still favor Oklahoma to land Robinson.
With recent news of Taylor Tatum’s interest in OU growing, it will be interesting to see how the Sooners handle the running back position in the 2024 class. Oklahoma will likely only bring in two running backs in the cycle, and if DeMarco Murray and company are able to earn a pledge from Robinson, it seems like there would only be one spot remaining for either Tatum or Duncanville, TX, star Caden Durham.
While there is obviously no guarantee that any of the three backs end up in Norman, there are reports that all three currently favor the Sooners. For Brent Venables, this is not the worst problem to have, but OU’s head coach will still have to handle the situation with care to ensure he does not burn any bridges.
Regardless, Oklahoma will have more clarity on its 2024 running back situation after Robinson’s commitment on June 27.
