In this story:

On Friday afternoon, 4-star defensive back Eli Bowen announced that his college decision will come down to Texas and Oklahoma

Listed at 5-foot-9 and 180 pounds, Bowen is the younger brother of OU safety and former 5-star recruit Peyton Bowen. Eli is an impressive prospect as well, bringing in over 20 offers and being ranked as one of the top 30 cornerbacks in the nation, according to ESPN.

After taking multiple visits to Norman over the summer, Bowen has included the Sooners' in his top two. If cornerbacks coach Jay Valai is able to get a commitment from the Denton Guyer (TX) product, Bowen would become the second cornerback commit in the Sooners' 2024 class, joining Casteel (AZ) DB Jeremiah Newcombe

OU also has Mykel Patterson-McDonald of Westmoore (OK) and Jaydan Hardy of Lewisville (TX) pledged in the 2024 cycle, but both of the aforementioned players will likely play safety in college.

"It’s like a family," Bowen told On3 about his relationship with Oklahoma. "I have a really good connection with the coaches and I’m close with the players and the commits. I think the SEC can bring them to the next level."

To earn a commitment from the talented defensive back, however, the Sooners will have to beat out their fierce rival, the Texas Longhorns.

While having Bowen's older brother already on the roster will surely help OU in this Red River recruiting battle, Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns have been hot on the recruiting trail, and likely will not back down any time soon.
