Eli Bowen, a 4-star defensive back in the 2024 class, committed to Oklahoma on Thursday evening.

The Denton Guyer (TX) product is the younger brother of former OU freshman defensive back and former 5-star recruit Peyton Bowen. Peyton was committed to Notre Dame before flipping to Oregon prior to eventually committing to Oklahoma.

Listed at 5-foot-9 and 170 pounds, Eli is one of the top 30 cornerbacks in the nation, according to ESPN.

Bowen joins 4-star Casteel (AZ) corner Jeremiah Newcombe in the Sooners’ 2024 cornerback class. With 4-star safeties Mykel Patterson-McDonald of Westmoore (OK) and Jaydan Hardy of Lewisville (TX) also committed to Oklahoma in the upcoming recruiting cycle, Brent Venables and company have a solid group of defenders on the back end to round out what could be a tremendous group in the front seven.

Bowen holds over 23 offers, but cut his list to Texas and OU earlier in the summer. For the Sooners, adding another talented player on defense will only help bolster the program’s 2024 recruiting class which will enter the SEC as freshmen.

Bowen's commitment comes less than 12 hours after 2024 Heritage Hall (OK) athlete Andy Bass announced his pledge to Oklahoma.

Between scholarship players and walk-ons, the Sooners’ now have 25 total commits in the 2024 recruiting cycle. With only 20 of these players reportedly on scholarships, Venables still has room to add a handful of talented players to a class that is already ranked inside the top 15 nationally.
