Brendan Zurbrugg, a 3-star quarterback from Alliance, OH, committed to Oklahoma on Tuesday afternoon.

Listed at 6-foot-4, Zurbrugg was previously committed to Syracuse before flipping to Northwestern. With the current allegations surrounding the Wildcats' program, Zurbrugg once again flipped his commitment.

The dual-threat signal caller joins 4-star QB Michael Hawkins Jr. in the Sooners 2024 class, marking the first time since 2006 that Oklahoma has brought in two quarterbacks in the same class.

Zurbrugg is a talented track athlete who's speed can be seen when he scrambles. The 3-star prospect has clocked a personal best 38.16 in the 300 meter hurdles and 14.60 in the 110 meter hurdles.

Zurbrugg has been named to the All-Ohio track team twice in his career.

While the Alliance (OH) High School product may not be as highly touted as Hawkins Jr., he provides a different skill set than the Frisco Emerson (TX) QB.

The Sooners' search for a second quarterback is seemingly due to last season's lack of depth amongst that position group. After Dillon Gabriel went down with a head injury against TCU, Oklahoma was forced to play Davis Beville at quarterback and then turn to skill position players in an embarrassing 49-0 loss to Texas.

Brent Venables goal in recruiting a second quarterback was to increase the depth in Jeff Lebby's room, especially after last year's Red River debacle. As it stands now, OU will have Jackson Arnold, Hawkins Jr. and Zurbrugg at QB once Gabriel leaves after the 2023 season.
