Oklahoma can’t have too many great wide receivers.

Jones County (GA) 4-star wide receiver Zion Ragins committed to the Sooners on Tuesday afternoon. He’s the fifth wideout in the class for new receivers coach Emmett Jones.

Ragins is one of the top 20 wide receivers and top 180 players in the nation according to ESPN. Holding 30 offers, the speedy pass catcher chose the Sooners over Georgia and Florida State, among others.

OU's newest commit is listed at 5-foot-9 and 170 pounds and has reportedly clocked a remarkable 10.3 in the 100-meter dash. Watching Ragins' film, the rising senior has flashes that look similar to Marquise Brown during his time with the Sooners.

Ragins joins a receiver room of Zion Kearney, KJ Daniels, Dozie Ezukanma and Ivan Carreon in Oklahoma's 2024 class. With a largely unproven group of wideouts currently on the roster, Emmett Jones has successfully made an effort to rebuild the Sooners' wide receiver room.

In 2021, Ragins totaled 1,291 yards and 12 touchdowns on 93 touches. The Georgia native has a similar style to Daniels, as the two have a different body type than the rest of the commits in OU's 2024 class.

Ragins was on campus for an official visit on June 9, the same weekend as Sooners' 5-star defensive line target Williams Nwaneri. Prior to this summer, the talented pass catcher was in Norman for an official visit in late January. Ragins visited Georgia and FSU in June after his OU visit.

Jeff Lebby and company also have 4-star quarterback Michael Hawkins Jr., 4-star tight end Davon Mitchell and 3-star running back Xavier Robinson on board in OU's upcoming recruiting class, building a strong offensive foundation to take Oklahoma into the SEC.

Jones, Lebby and the rest of the Sooners' coaching staff going into Georgia and stealing a commitment from the Bulldogs is a good sign that OU will still be competitive on the recruiting trail after joining the SEC.
